Unloop Privacy Policy

Last updated: 02 October 2026

Unloop is an Android app that helps you break the Instagram Reels habit. It is made by Zeuada (“we”, “us”, “our”). This policy explains what information Unloop uses, where it is stored, what (very little) leaves your phone, and the choices you have.

We wrote this policy to be read, not skimmed past. If anything is unclear, email us at privacy@zeuada.com.

The short version

  • Unloop does not require an account, and we don’t ask for your name, email, or phone number.
  • Unloop uses Android’s Accessibility permission only to know when you’re in Instagram Reels and when you swipe to a new reel.
  • Unloop does not read your messages, captions, comments, or anything outside Instagram, and it does not record which videos you watch.
  • Your reel counts, times, feelings, check-ins, and settings are stored only on your phone.
  • The only things sent off your phone are anonymous crash and error reports and a request to download detection settings (explained below). Neither contains personal data or your viewing activity.
  • Unloop has no ads, and we never sell your data.

1. Who we are

Unloop is published by Zeuada.

  • Legal name: Zeuada
  • Registered address: Kolhapur, India.
  • Contact for privacy questions: privacy@zeuada.com
  • Grievance officer (India): Shubham Lad, privacy@zeuada.com

2. The Accessibility permission

Unloop uses Android’s AccessibilityService API to work inside Instagram. Before you turn it on, Unloop shows you a separate screen explaining exactly what it does, and nothing happens until you tap to agree. You can turn the permission off at any time in your phone’s Accessibility settings.

With this permission, Unloop:

  • Detects which Instagram screen is open, so it knows when you enter Reels and whether a reel was opened from a chat.
  • Detects when you swipe to a new reel, so it can count reels and time.
  • Shows the pause screen and live counter on top of Instagram.
  • Performs a small number of actions only when you tap a button, such as leaving the Reels screen when you choose “Back to my day” or going to Instagram’s home screen.

Unloop does not:

  • Read or store your messages, captions, comments, usernames, or search terms.
  • Record which reels or accounts you watch.
  • Observe or interact with any app other than Instagram.
  • Take screenshots or record your screen.
  • Use the permission to make decisions or take actions on your behalf without you tapping a button.

The Accessibility permission is configured to receive events from Instagram only.

3. Information stored only on your phone

To work, Unloop keeps the following on your device. We do not have access to it, and it is not uploaded to our servers or anyone else’s.

Information Why Unloop keeps it
Reel counts and time spent in Reels (per session and per day) To show the live counter, your daily totals, and your dashboard
When pauses happened and what you chose (an activity, “Back to my day”, or keep scrolling) To show your progress and insights
The feeling you selected at each pause To suggest matching activities and show patterns, like when urges usually happen
Activities you started and your check-ins (“Better”, “About the same”, “Worse”) To suggest activities that help you more often
Your identity statement, your if-then plan, and your onboarding answers (like your guess of daily reels) To show your own words at the right moments and compare your guess with reality
Your settings (daily budget, Reels-free windows, day start time, preferences) To make Unloop work the way you set it

This information stays on your phone until you delete it (see section 7).

4. Information that leaves your phone

4.1 Crash and error reports

If Unloop crashes or runs into an error, it sends an anonymous technical report so we can find and fix the problem. These reports are processed by our crash-reporting provider, Sentry.

A report may include:

  • The app version and build
  • Your phone model, Android version, and language setting
  • Technical details of the error (for example, which part of the code failed)
  • A randomly generated installation identifier used only to group reports

A report does not include your reel counts, feelings, check-ins, identity statement, plan, or anything about what you watch.

4.2 Detection health reports

Instagram sometimes changes its app in ways that stop Unloop from recognizing the Reels screen. To catch this quickly, Unloop may send a short report when detection seems to have stopped working. It contains only:

  • The Unloop version
  • The installed Instagram version
  • A general error code (for example, “Reels screen not recognized”)

It contains no information about what you watched or did in Instagram.

4.3 Detection settings download

About once a day, Unloop may download a small settings file from our server so it can keep recognizing Instagram’s screens after Instagram updates. This is a one-way download: Unloop does not send your data in this request. As with any internet request, the server that delivers the file automatically receives your device’s IP address; we do not use it to identify you. The file is hosted on GitHub Pages, which logs visitor IP addresses for security purposes under the GitHub Privacy Statement. We do not have access to these logs.

4.4 Google Play

You download Unloop through Google Play. Google may collect information about your download and use of the Play Store under its own privacy policy. We do not receive personal information about you from Google beyond aggregated, anonymous statistics (such as install counts and crash rates) shown in the Play Console.

5. What we don’t do

  • We don’t show ads or use advertising identifiers.
  • We don’t sell, rent, or trade your information.
  • We don’t use analytics or tracking tools that follow you across apps or websites.
  • We don’t build profiles about you.
  • We don’t use your information to train AI models.

6. Permissions Unloop asks for

Permission Why
Accessibility To detect the Reels screen and swipes inside Instagram, and to show the pause and counter (see section 2)
Notifications To show the break timer, check-in reminders, and occasional reminders you’ve turned on
Battery optimization settings (optional) Unloop may open your phone’s battery settings so you can let it keep running in the background; it does not change these settings itself

Unloop does not ask for access to your contacts, location, camera, microphone, photos, files, or messages.

7. Your choices and controls

  • Turn off the Accessibility permission at any time in Android settings. Unloop will stop working inside Instagram until you turn it back on.
  • Delete your data: Uninstall the app. Because your data is stored only on your phone, this permanently removes it, and we cannot recover it.
  • Crash reports: these contain no personal data. If you have questions about a specific report, contact us.

8. How long information is kept

  • On your phone: until you delete it, clear the app’s storage, or uninstall Unloop.
  • Crash, error, and detection health reports: kept by Sentry for up to 30 days, then deleted.
  • Emails you send us: kept as long as needed to answer you, then deleted within 6 months unless we need to keep them for legal reasons.

9. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights over your personal information, including the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict its use, to withdraw consent, and to complain to a data protection authority. This includes rights under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, and, if you are in the European Economic Area or the UK, the GDPR.

Because Unloop keeps your personal information on your device and we don’t hold it, you can exercise most of these rights directly through the controls in section 7. For anything else, email privacy@zeuada.com, and we’ll respond within 7 days.

Where the GDPR applies: we process crash, error, and detection health reports on the basis of our legitimate interest in keeping Unloop working and secure. These reports contain no personal data about your use of Instagram.

10. Where information is processed

Crash, error, and detection health reports are processed by Sentry on servers that may be located outside your country, including the United States. Where required, these transfers are protected by appropriate safeguards offered by the provider.

11. Security

Information on your phone is protected by Android’s app sandbox, which prevents other apps from reading it. Reports sent from Unloop are encrypted in transit (HTTPS). No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, but we limit what leaves your phone to the minimum needed to keep the app working.

12. Children

Users under 13 should use Unloop with a parent’s or guardian’s permission. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

13. Changes to this policy

If we change how Unloop handles information, we’ll update this policy and the “Last updated” date above. If a change is significant, for example a new feature that sends information off your phone, we’ll tell you in the app before it takes effect and, where required, ask for your consent.
